Indian Doodle Artist from Kerala to Be Featured in Malaysia's National School Curriculum from 2027 Academic Year

Dubai, UAE: In a remarkable international recognition, Sijin Gopinathan, an Indian doodle artist from Kerala, is set to be featured in Malaysia's National Visual Arts Textbook for the 2027 academic year. The inclusion marks an important milestone, with his work becoming part of the official learning curriculum for students in Malaysia's specialized Arts Schools.

The upcoming textbook will introduce students to Sijin's artistic journey, his signature doodle style, and one of his original artworks as part of the chapter on Doodle Art (Lukisan Coret). It will serve as a key learning resource for Form 1 (secondary school) students, encouraging creativity and exposing young artists to contemporary international art practices.

Over the years, Sijin has transformed simple black-and-white doodles into detailed visual stories that celebrate culture, humanity, wildlife, environmental conservation, and global peace. His distinctive style has taken him from live art performances and public murals to collaborations with international organizations and brands, earning recognition far beyond India's borders.

What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is that a self-developed artistic style, created through years of dedication and experimentation, will now be studied by students as part of a national educational curriculum. It reflects the growing global appreciation for doodle art as a serious creative discipline capable of storytelling, education, and social impact.

Speaking about the recognition, Sijin said:

"Art has always been more than drawing for me. It is a way of communicating ideas, preserving stories, and connecting people across cultures. Knowing that my work will inspire students in another country is an honour that I never imagined when I first started doodling. I hope it encourages young artists to believe that their creativity can travel beyond borders."

Born in Kerala and currently based in Dubai, Sijin has dedicated more than a decade to building a career around meaningful visual storytelling. His artworks often highlight themes of unity, heritage, sustainability, and coexistence, demonstrating how art can spark conversations that transcend language and geography.

"As an art student, I grew up studying the works of legends like Raja Ravi Varma, M.F. Husain, Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and many other great artists from around the world. To now see my own work included in an official art textbook alongside today's generation of artists feels truly surreal. It's a full-circle moment that reminds me how far passion, perseverance, and creativity can take you."

The inclusion in Malaysia's National Visual Arts Textbook represents not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for Indian contemporary art. It highlights how creativity rooted in local experiences can gain international relevance and become part of the educational journey of future generations.

Beginning with the 2027 academic year, thousands of students across Malaysia's Arts Schools are expected to explore the world of doodle art through the work of Sijin Gopinathan, making him one of the few Indian artists to be featured in the country's official visual arts curriculum.
