VIP guests included Khulood Al Jabri, senior Emirati artist and Faisal Abdulqader, also a senior Emirati artist. In all, seven nationalities and fourteen artists took part in the event. They were: Ahmed Alfalasi (Emirati); Mena Balfaqeeh (Emirati); Sijin Gopinathan (India); Mrudula Nair (India); Rachel John (India); Romy Ravindran (India); Saima Hassan (India); Gomathi Shiva (India); Shazia Khan (India), Mujeeb Kehar (Pakistan); Suheir Aboushi (Jordan); Johan Alberts (South Africa); Khalida Kuzmina (Russia); Yoshita Ahmed (Sri Lanka).
The idea behind the event was to have an exhibition in a traditional format in a modern restaurant. 'Though we are moving towards Expo 2020 and becoming a fully developed country, we still haven't forgotten our traditional roots. The artworks were of different mediums like mix media on wood, gold doodle art, ceramic on wood, seven-layered painting, oil paintings, acrylic painting, ceramic mosaic on pottery, painting on stones done with typical Emirati characters and elements, to give justice to the "Year of Zayed" this year", Ahmed Alfalasi said. "One of the main goal of Al Faslasi Artz is to open doors to all the talents and generations and all ages to encourage them to participate more and more in such exhibitions, where they get a wide scope to showcase their talents."
